Zhaga Book 18 D4i Sensor | Lifud LF-SAD040M

REDMADE is expanding its lineup of outdoor lighting components with the Lifud LF-SAD040M, a D4i sensor with a Zhaga Book 18 interface designed for smart lighting applications.

In a single device, it combines motion detection and ambient light measurement, allowing the unit to respond both to the presence of people or vehicles and to the ambient light conditions.

D4i Motion and Light Sensor

For motion detection, the LF-SAD040M uses 5.8 GHz microwave technology, with sensitivity configurable across multiple levels. The motion detection function complies with DALI Part 303, while illuminance measurement is managed in accordance with DALI Part 304, with a range from 0 to 1000 lux and a resolution of 10 lux.

The sensor also offers a 360° detection range and can be installed at heights of up to 12 meters, with a recommended range between 4 and 8 meters. Under test conditions, the diameter of the detected area can reach up to approximately 15 meters, depending on the installation height and the set sensitivity.

Lifud D4i Sensor

In addition to simple detection, the LF-SAD040M can also be used for autonomous control logic based on the D4i sensor. Lifud notes that it is possible to manage functions related to presence detection and maintaining a constant lighting level. The sensor can also be configured via DALI or an optional remote control (part number DSAD040M), making it easier to adjust parameters during installation or maintenance.

In terms of integration, the product is DALI-2 and D4i certified, compatible with D4i drivers, and features a standard Zhaga Book 18 interface. The rated protection rating is IP65, and the operating temperature ranges from -30 °C to +60 °C—specifications suitable for use in outdoor fixtures.

The applications listed by Lifud include street and area lighting, outdoor luminaires, parking lots, and sidewalks, as well as centralized management systems.

Zhaga Book 18 Socket

To integrate the sensor into the device, REDMADE can supply the Zhaga Book 18 JL-700 socket manufactured by Longjoin, which is a 4-pin model and already available in the REDMADE product line.

The socket features a compact design, flexible installation, and an IP66-rated sealing system. The connection includes a 24 Vdc power supply, DALI lines, and General I/O lines, allowing for the integration of compatible control modules and sensors.

The JL-700 thus serves as the physical interface between the device and the Lifud sensor, making it easy to replace or add the external module.

D4i Driver

To complete the setup, the sensor can be paired with a D4i driver.

Among the available solutions, Lifud offers the outdoor series LF-ACDoutdoor series, in which the B version incorporates D4i technology. The range covers power ratings from 40 W to 165 W and is designed for applications such as street lights, floodlights, wall lights, and shoebox lights.

The D4i driver integrates the DALI bus power supply and the 24 V AUX output required to support external devices such as sensors and controllers. It also supports DALI Parts 251, 252, and 253 for managing luminaire data, energy, and diagnostic information.

The combination of the D4i driver, the Zhaga Book 18 socket, and the LF-SAD040M thus makes it possible to integrate power supply, communication, and sensor technology within the same control architecture.

Zhaga Book 18 System Integration

The Lifud application diagram shows how the LF-SAD040M can be connected to a D4i driver via the DALI bus and the auxiliary power supply, using the DA+, DA-/GND, and AUX 24 V connections.

In fact, the sensor does not have its own DALI bus power supply; the configuration with the D4i driver allows this function to be integrated directly into the fixture's electronics.

This allows the various components to be selected and combined based on the characteristics of the project and the outdoor fixture.

REDMADE Services and Products

With the introduction of the Lifud LF-SAD040M D4i sensor, REDMADE is further expanding its support for manufacturers of outdoor lighting fixtures.

The sensor, the Zhaga Book 18 socket, and the D4i drivers can, in fact, be paired with the LED modules from the LightMAX family—designed for high-power and outdoor applications—as well as their corresponding optics. The range includes various board and lens configurations, offering designers a flexible foundation for developing lighting fixtures.

In this way, REDMADE can assist customers not only in selecting the LED module and optics, but also in integrating the components required for smart control of the fixture: the socket, sensor, and D4i driver.
