The synergy between REDMADE’s LineMAX LED modules and LEDiL Isla lenses sets a new standard for supermarket aisle lighting, combining maximum efficiency with visual comfort. The result is a solution engineered to optimize energy efficiency, photometric control, and uniformity in retail aisles.
The Photometric Evolution of Aisle Lighting
Modern retail lighting, particularly in large-scale retail settings, requires a paradigm shift: the transition from diffuse general lighting to a highly directional“aisle lighting”system. The engineering goal is to maximize vertical illuminance (Ev) on the shelves and displayed products, while minimizing horizontal illuminance on the floor to avoid unnecessary energy waste. This high-contrast approach not only enhances visual merchandising but also allows for a drastic reduction in installed power per square meter.

LEDiL Isla Optics: Efficiency and Glare Control
To meet these photometric specifications, LEDiL has developed Isla, currently the most efficient linear aisle lighting fixture on the market. Configured in a 6×1 layout with a 45 mm pitch, Isla is specifically optimized for use with high-power LED sources in 5050 packages. Designed for integration into electrified track systems or continuous-row structures, the luminaire can be equipped with special anti-glare shades (available in white, glossy black, or metallic finishes). This mechanical accessory shields the light source, reducing direct glare (UGR) without altering the asymmetric beam distribution and ensuring perfect lighting uniformity on the shelf.

The LineMAX R1E35 LED module
To enable manufacturers to fully realize the potential of this lens, REDMADE has developed a linear LED module specifically designed for the LEDiL Isla, part of the LineMAX family (product code R1E35). The board, with standard dimensions of 280 x 24 mm, features 12 5050 LEDs arranged in a layout that perfectly matches the Isla optics (two LED chips positioned in correspondence with each of the 6 lenses in the optical block).
In terms of performance, the module offers specifications that are significant for the industrial sector:
- Luminous flux: up to 5,879 lm per module.
- System Efficiency: performance reaching 174 lm/W, optimizing the energy consumption of the entire fixture.
- Color Rendering Index (CRI): Available in versions with a CRI of 80 or 90, ideal for enhancing the color accuracy of packaging and fresh produce.
- Wiring Flexibility: The board’s electrical layout is designed to support daisy-chain connections of up to six modules, facilitated by the on-board integration of WAGO quick-connect connectors from the 2060 or 2065 series, which simplify through-wiring in continuous-row industrial installations.
